HOW THIS WORKS

1. Initial Call
You reach out, and we talk.
I’ll get a sense of what you’re hoping your video will do for you, which is typically one of these:

  • Attract more inquiries
  • Attract better-fitting clients
  • Share a helpful idea or approach

If you have something else in mind, we’ll shape it together.

We’ll also talk about your professional style and the kind of client you most want to reach, so the video feels aligned with who you are.

2. We schedule + prepare
If it feels like a good fit, we’ll schedule your Pre-Recording Session and you’ll receive an email to help you prepare. (These steps eliminate most stress from the Recording Session itself: good prep = good results!)

The email includes:

  • Instructions for installing the recording app on your smartphone
  • Links to two Amazon products, one of which you’ll likely need: a simple tripod, or a combination soft-light and phone holder stand.
  • A short intake form
  • A brief overview of what to expect in the Pre-Recording Session, so there are no surprises

For best results, an iPhone or Android made within the past  6 years works best, and using one allows for better sound and image quality, lighting, and camera placement.

In a pinch, we can use your computer’s webcam. While convenient and perfectly fine for Zoom calls, webcams generally won’t produce the level of quality that best represents you on your website.

3. Pre-Recording Session

This is a working session to prepare for the recording, not a performance.

We connect using the same software used for the recording. (It is similar to Zoom, but much higher quality.) You’ll show me your space so we can look at lighting, background, and camera position, and we’ll set up your phone together.

Then we do a light rehearsal of your message. Ideally, you’ll have practiced at home several times to refine and smooth your talk. If the recording is going to be “Interview Style,” ideally you will create a short list of questions to be asked, and will practice your responses before the session.

You’re not expected to get it right—you’re simply speaking in your natural voice, and if needed, I’ll gently guide you with feedback on volume and rhythm. Having an outline of what you want to say can be helpful.

If desired, I can set you up with a teleprompter that scrolls a script as you read it. (Professional newscasters use these.)

By the end of this session, we’ll know whether you’re ready to record, or need a bit more at-home practice or additional coaching first.

These sessions run about 45 minutes.

If it’s a go, we schedule the Recording Session.

4. Recording Session

On the day of your session, we connect and begin with a short warm-up so you feel settled and natural on camera.

Then we move into recording.

You speak directly as though to a potential client, like speaking to one real person rather than “answering questions.”

I’ll guide you as needed, and we take breaks and re-takes as part of the process.

Most sessions run about 60 minutes. Nothing is rushed.

4. Review + refine
I’ll edit the video and upload it to a private link for you to review, typically within two weeks.

You can request changes, and I’ll take care of the final adjustments.

Once everything looks right, you’ll receive the finished version ready for your website and social channels.

The finished video is typically 3–5 minutes long—long enough to be informative, while still holding your viewer’s attention.

5. Use your video
Your web person can easily embed the video on your site.
If needed, I’m happy to help with that as well.
